As the BJP steadily surges ahead in several constituencies across the country, partyworkers in Vadodara ,from where party Prime Ministerial candidate is leading with close to 5.5 lakh votes, have already begun victory march outside counting station.
Modi has a clear lead over Congress Candidate Madhusudan Mistry who is trailing with 1.68 lakh votes so far. The third place has been taken by the None of the above (NOTA) option with 12500 votes. AAP party workers, who had arrived at the counting station this morning, left immediately after the first hour of counting, led by Rajeev Verma, election agent for candidate Sunil Kulkarni. Verma told The Indian Express that the party had accepted the mandate of the people to be announced eventually. Kulkarni has notched 6970 votes so far.
Congress candidate Mistry has been unable to make it to Vadodara due to ill health but City President Narendra Ravat has been stationed inside the counting center keeping tab on developments. Earlier this morning Mistry’s election agent Shailesh Amin raised objection to the presence of some BJP leaders who were not authorised to be inside the counting center. Amin said, “Some BJP leaders had entered the counting rooms with old icards. We brought it to the notice of the DEO.”
Birla said her campaign this time is “very similar” to the last time.
