‘Now there should be Ram temple, rupee should be 40 against dollar’

Excerpts from Shankersinh Vaghela’s playful farewell speech for Narendra Modi.

Our CM is becoming PM. It is natural that everyone is very happy… A Gujarati creates Gujarat wherever he goes. The state sent two prime ministers whose paths were via Godhra.

Morarji Desai was deputy collector in 1927, and for whatever went wrong there, he was transferred. He was accused of partiality and quit in 1930 to join Gandhiji’s non-cooperation movement … The second PM is Narendra Modi, pracharak in Godhra, pracharak in Vadodara… that way he became Gujarat CM. Credit goes to you (Speaker Vaju Vala) too. You vacated the Rajkot-II seat for him.

I hope he takes you along; he will need your company. Whatever happened in Godhra in 2002, I won’t go into the details, but via Godhra we got two PMs…

During Emergency, Modi dressed up as Sardarji… Subramanian Swamy once dressed up as Sardarji in Parliament, perhaps inspired by him. (Modi’s) beard was then black; now it is grey…

In 1984 there were two seats, today 282… The credit goes to him… He unwillingly portrayed himself as bigger than the party, bigger than the Sangh. If votes had been sought only for the party, such a majority might not have been possible either… The country was divided into two by the BJP ideology… The BJP has achieved what Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee wanted in 1951…

But I would like to remind (him) that the vote share is 35 per cent… He has to look after everyone… You are not a BJP PM; you will be the country’s PM on May 26… The voters have high expectations of you… As promised, you will now have to provide jobs, and 33 per cent reservation to women…

Nitinbhai (finance minister) and Anandi (new CM) said they were sad… but ab achche din aane wale hain…

The central taxes fund we have ceaselessly asked the Manmohan Singh government for should be here now… Manmohan used to be quiet, but this PM is very talkative… now nobody will stall projects… and people expect corruption to be curbed…

(Transparency) is the first step… you should take it tomorrow itself. I mean soon after you become PM, the people will realise that now each and every act is in place…

Dawood has moved to Afghanistan. America was successful in finding Osama… And if you feel Dawood is the root cause of terrorism, you should find him.

Whether black money is stacked in Dubai or Switzerland, make Baba Ramdev ambassador…

You have said inflation should go down 25 per cent in six months… Manmohan asked for 100 days, you have wisely asked for twice as many… but we will seek the answer after a year…

In Gujarat cows are being getting slaughtered everyday… I request the future PM to charge the accused under section 302…

Two neighbouring countries are important — China and Pakistan. A a softening in Pakistan’s position can be felt already; we expect a further meltdown…

Now that you are in a majority, I hope that within the constitutional framework there should be a Ram temple in Ayodhya, Kashmir Pandits should be able to go back to Kashmir… a uniform civil code… 100 new cities… the rupee should be 40 against the dollar…

There should be a judicial board in CBI to protect it from politics… first you asked for 60 months, then you mentioned 120 months, so don’t make it 60 years…

For Gujaratis there should be a tea subsidy in Delhi… in Delhi there should be a special counter for access to you.

You are alone… So if you miss anyone anytime, you can come to your mother to shed a couple of tears…you will feel better.

Inciting him for Temple construction or what ?let him settle first and do the need full for the poor.It is his priority he saying. After five years if he is not disturbed for corrupt-free government or labelled as communal he will think of other issues of like Ganga purification, etc.

What does she think????? Those days of coalition dharma politics are gone and in any case if she thinks the foreign affairs is her portfolio she does not fit to be a CM. It is better to have good relations with all the neighbors for the progress of the nations in the region on mutual respect, security, and benefits to the nations/common man involved not on the basis of vote bank politics and past mistakes/wrongs future development should be the aim.
