Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik announced the fourth list for 41 Assembly and 7 Lok Sabha seats, dropping 9 sitting MLAs and an MP. BJD announced candidates for 111 of the 147 Assembly seats and 17 out of the 21 LS seats.

Prominent among names announced were Kendrapara MP Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda, Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab, Bhadrak MP Arjun Sethi, Dhenkanal MP Tathagat Satapathy and Puri MP Pinaki Mishra.

Naveen overlooked rebellion by MLAs like Prabhat Biswal, who is believed to have played a role in the 2012 “coup” bid against him. Biswal was renominated for Choudwar in Cuttack.
