An election official was shifted from a polling centre in Kolar after he changed the direction of an EVM allegedly at the request of Union Minister K H Muniyappa to make it “vaastu” compliant. Muniyappa is contesting on a Congress ticket.

“The official has been shifted from Harohalli polling centre, which is in the city, for changing the direction of theEVM on Muniyappa’s request,” Kolar Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer D K Ravi said here, adding changing the direction or position of the EVM is unlawful.

As soon as Muniyappa entered the polling centre to cast his vote, he was displeased to see the EVM facing south and placed it in north-east direction with the help of his supporters, Ravi said.
