Questioning the inexplicable delay in government formation, former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah Tuesday asked PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti to either to take charge or ask the Governor to dissolve Assembly.
In an open letter to Mehbooba, the National Conference working president said: “If you are unable or unwilling to assume the responsibilities that are being placed on your shoulders, then you must do your duty to the people and recommend to His Excellency, the Governor, to dissolve the assembly and let the people make a fresh decision in an election.”
During a core group meeting chaired by Mehbooba Sunday, the PDP had termed the “agenda of alliance” a sacred document, but had not put out any deadline for having a government in place.
In the letter, Omar wrote: “I want to ask you – why are we being made to wait for a government? Your alliance with the BJP stands and no fresh negotiations are taking place, so why is the state under central rule? What are you waiting for, Mehbooba?”
