The Election Commission (EC) Thursday reviewed the preparedness of states and Union Territories for the upcoming General Elections at a meeting attended by chief secretaries, home secretaries, director generals of police, chief electoral officers and nodal officers of police.

The EC took feedback from officials on overall law and order conditions and state-specific concerns, apart from emphasising the need for inter-state coordination to ensure a free, fair and peaceful election.

Expressing satisfaction with the overall preparedness, the EC directed officials to ensure neutrality and impartiality of the election machinery during the Lok Sabha polls.
