CPM leader acquitted in murder case gets party post

The CPM Thursday elected P Mohanan, who was acquitted in the murder case of a party rebel, as its Kozhikode district secretary.

Mohanan was the 14th accused in the murder of rebel leader T P Chandrasekharan in May 2012. Husband of CPM legislator K K Lathika, he was a prominent leader to figure in the list of the accused and was imprisoned for 19 months. CPM that faced a setback in Kozhikode after the murder, rehabilitated Mohanan after the acquittal.
