Cornered on Tamil Nadu’s water disputes with Karnataka and Kerala, both ruled by its government, the Congress brought in CMs from the states to campaign in the border regions that have a mixed population.

Campaigning at Krishnagiri bordering Karnataka and Coimbatore near Kerala, CMs Siddharamaiah and Oommen Chandy denied that the Congress governments led by them had betrayed the interests of Tamil Nadu. The Cauvery and Mullaiperiyar water disputes have been campaign topics and being in power in both the states, Congress has been the common target.

Speaking at Krishnagiri on Saturday, Siddharamaiah said his government has been adhering to the quantum of release, contrary to the charges raised by AIADMK general secretary and Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa.
