As Prime Minister Narendra Modi is accompany Chinese President Xi Jinping on his Gujarat tour on September 17, Chief Minister Anandiben Patel wants to give former a special gift — victory on all 10 seats that are going to bypolls on September 13.
Starting campaign from Khambhalia in Saurashtra, Patel said, “ Prime Minister is visiting Gujarat along with Chinese President on September 17. It also happens to be his birthday. Let’s give him gift of all the 10 seats by winning them.”
Jinping will visit India after second week of this month. Prior to Gujarat visit, he will meet Modi in Delhi.
While on the lines of Jinping’s visit, state government will discuss and explore business opportunity with China, it will be the first visit by Modi after becoming the PM in May. For the state government, it will be the first time that any Chinese President is paying a visit.
Earlier as Gujarat CM, Modi had visited China with business and industry delegates, especially to promote Gujarat as investment destination.
However, at the same time, Modi was top BJP leader to oppose the UPA government reform of FDI in retail, which could open flood of Chinese-made items in India.
Meanwhile, Patel will be in Vadodara on Sunday, a Lok Sabha seat which is also going to bypolls. Vadodara was one of the two seats won by Modi in Lok Sabha elections. He vacated Vadodara and retained Varanasi.
Bypolls for all nine Assembly seats was necessitated after the BJP MLAs from them contested and won LS elections.
