Congress president Sonia Gandhi has said in its quest for power the BJP is lying, spreading rumours and using all tricks to mislead people citing ‘Gujarat Model’.

Addressing a rally in Neemuch in support of Mandsaur candidate Meenakshi Natarajan, Sonia Friday said more than 40 per cent villages in Gujarat do not get drinking water and accused the Narendra Modi government of selling land owned by farmers and poor dirt cheap to industrialists.

The Congress chief said malnutrition in children below five years of age was rampant and accused the Gujarat government of not filling up 27,000 posts meant for Scheduled Casts and not providing reservation to Dalits in 600 panchayats.

Calling Madhya Pradesh “ghotala Pradesh’’, she also targeted the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government saying corruption prevailed at every level and pointed to assets worth crores unearthed during raids on premises of junior level employees. “You can imagine what will come out when bureaucrats and ministers are raided,’’ she said.
