The CBI has registered a case against Rajya Sabha member and former Union minister Prem Chand Gupta, a close aide of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, and his son for allegedly falsifying records to get a coal block in Maharashtra. The case was registered against the RJD MP and his son Gaurav after the Central Vigilance Commission agreed with the CBI that a case was made out, official sources said.

The CBI has alleged the company falsified records to meet the requirement to get a coal block. It allegedly told the government it had spent Rs 100 crore on power plants, but a scrutiny of the company’s papers showed Rs 80 crore had been spent, sources said.     ENS
