1990s, 2007: Accidents made Munde switch to ‘safe’ Lexus

Munde had told The Indian Express earlier this year that he preferred the Lexus as he found it safe and comfortable.

Rural Development Minister Gopinath Munde always chose to travel in his Toyota Lexus and would buy a new car of the same brand and colour — white — every three years. But on Tuesday, he was being driven in a Maruti SX4 car when he met with the fatal accident in Delhi.

Munde had told The Indian Express earlier this year that he preferred the Lexus as he found it safe and comfortable. “I suffered a serious neck injury after a stage on which I was sitting collapsed. Since then I have had problems with my neck and cannot move it normally. So I only use the Lexus which is the biggest car in the segment and is comfortable for someone with my condition,” Munde had said.

He had said he had been using the same brand of car for the past 12 years. “This is the third or fourth car of the same brand that I am using. I change it every three years,” Munde had said. He was known to use the vehicle to criss-cross the entire state.

Over the past few years, Munde had faced some serious accidents which affected his mobility. Apart from the stage collapse accident in the 1990s, he fractured an arm in a road accident in 2007 when his vehicle went off the road in an attempt to save a child at Parli.

Late Munde on his web site says his family struggled to make both ends meet. So it can safely be umed he belonged to poor cl. Some 10-12 years ago in his interview he is reported to have said he goes for a new Toyota Lexus every three years and was, as stated in this interview, using his 3rd or 4th Lexus at that time.Besides He has declared his ets worth Rs.38 crores. When even a Secretary level babu of GOI can not dream of aculating so much wealth for his life time services how come this poor son of a poor family managed to am such a huge fortune. Similar is the story of Pramod Mahajan his deceased brother-in-law.

You should also see that he owned sugarcane factory. Before you ask such questions, you should do some due diligence. He gets paid for being an MLA apart from his business. Who knows, he might have sold his farm? If you are serious about getting answers, ask somewhere else or research about it. Don't float a question just for the sake of it.

Its probably a bit harsh to ask this question at this point of time, but he's led a public life, so such questions will be asked by the public. He was born in a middle cl farmer's family. How did he get the money to buy all those Lexus cars, each of which has to be imported at 110% duty and are considered luxury cars even in developed countries?

Discussing an already resolved question in public casts doubts ones intentions. Why don't you people instead research yourself?
