After facing all round condemnation from political parties and the civil society over attempts to force feed a fasting Muslim caterer in New Delhi’s Maharashtra Sadan, the Shiv Sena has chosen to take a belligerent stand and on Thursday asked why it was being targeted and why questions were not raised when some Muslim men rape women in Ramzan.

“Why is there an unnecessary controversy being created over a chapati while no one raises a voice over the rapes committed by some Muslims during the holy month of Ramzan. People understand all this. The media and certain parties and politicians are ok with rape but not with chapatis,” an edit in the Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana said.

The edit lists the recent rape instances in Afghanistan and Banglaore which it claims were committed by Muslims.

“The media and the selfish politicians who are crying themselves hoarse about the incident do not see the rape of a 10-year old by a Maulvi during the holy month of Ramazaan in Afghanistan. The media does not speak then, nor questions are raised In parliament, and neither cries of sensitivities being hurt, are raised. In Bangalore, a Muslim teacher while fasting recently raped a little girl. Why does the media and the selfish politicians not speak about these incidents,” the edit further states.

The Shiv Sena has maintained that its MPs were only raising their voice against the bad management and catering service at Maharashtra Sadan.

“It was not written on a man’s forehead as to which religion, caste or creed he belonged too. He turned out to be a Muslim. We came to know that he was observing his fast and reports started spreading that the Sainiks tried to break the fast of a  Muslim,” the edit further states.

The edit said the party was not indulging in hooliganism but was agitating. It added that the canteen caterer inspite of taking cash payment served unpalatable stuff and chapatis which are like rubber. It goes on to blame the Chief Minister and Maharashtra Sadan Resident Commissioner Bipin Malik for the poor conditions at the Sadan.

“In reality, this Chapati should have should have been thrust down the throats of the Chief Minister, PWD minister, Chief Secretary and Bipin Mallick who is Maharashtra’s representative in Delhi. Why this brouhaha after we took a Chapati close to the caterer’s mouth and told him a bit sternly that he should eat for himself and realize how unpalatable is the food,” the edit states.

The edit goes on to say that the Sena is not against any religion but has also threatened that the Sena will not tolerate any moves of getting political mileage through religion.

“We treat all religions equally. Everyone should keep their religion at home and in their hearts. Personal faith is a different thing but if if this faith is going to be used for scoring political points and defame the Shiv Sena then people should realize that they have to deal with the Shiv Sena,” the edit said.

Actions of the Shiv Sena MP has to be condemned along with attempts by others to communalise the same. It is unlikely that the MP knew that the caterer was a Muslim.

good point by Shiv Sena. If the media and leftist politicians are going to make a story out of something that does not warrant this much space, then indeed why do the poiticians and the media keep quiet other criminal activities of some sections of the most loved minority community of India??

It is very clear that the Sena MP is true about his actions and words; political parties are trying to paint communal color for this episode only for their selfish ends

I condem the rioting behaviour of SS MPs. If you are not satisfied with the food, there are many other ways of dealing with it. We travel by train and much worse food is served to us by IRCTC. Pengers do not manhandle the waiters. And, this kind of atrocious behaviour is definitely not expected even from Shiv Sena MPs. Having said that, our opposition parties and media have gone overboard giving the w issue a communal colour, which it is not. Having seen the video, and one who can understand Marathi language, nowhere it is evident that the MPs were trying to force-feed the manager with an intention to break a muslim person's fast. That is taking the logic too far and most of the people do not believe so.

How can these morons equate a crime committed by an individual in a different country with that committed by law makers of the world's largest democracy here? Are they trying to justify the unjustifiable? Or do they want to say that they are no more worse than a rapist in Afghanistan?

Why can't Sena say they didn't mean to insult the man or his belief, apologise for any hurt they may have caused, and call attention to the actual issue(of unpalatable food)?Whether Hindu or Muslim, the Sena goons resorted to violence. That is wrong. It amazes me that people support perpetrators of violence. This support will probably cease only if the violence is directed against themselves.

This selective issue has been delberatly raised by media to spoil the peaceful atmoshphere of the country. Just to have cheap publicity or mximum TRP these selfish people are plaing with the feelings of common people. Instead of working for the cordial releations amongst various communities the forces inmical to the country are spreading hatered bad blood. This is neither good for such forces no for the Country.Hope a better sense will prevail.

Well these shiv sena will never follow principles unless its leadership is reigned in by the law of the land, which seem to be non-existent for this political party alone. Inspite of being a privileged lot, these MPs expect 5-start facilities, and if they dont get it, they have are licensed to damage property, people, religious sentiments, & places and no one should question it. I dont know what kind of public facilities the people of these MP's consuencies are enjoying, and hope these MPs get a taste of their own behavior from their own electorate.

A small, trivial issue has been communalised by psedu-secularist parties. Shiv Sena is right in saying that muslims indulge in rape of 6 year old child girl in Bangalore and another 22 year old raped by gang of 5 muslims in Bangalore during Ramzan fasting. Did they do so to satisfy their hunger? It is quite clear that Muslims did this heinous crime just to insult Hindu women. No comments on these rapes by these anti hindu parties. Infact one of the the rapist was son of BSP muslim MLA. Had it been hindus raping a muslim girl, all these parties would have gone berserk to appease muslims for vote

This is politics simple and pure. The BJP wants to head the government after the next embly election.which the congress-NCP combine has hopefully already lost..The Muslim leaders should encourage the youth to withdraw his complaint. The Muslim leadership should also demand second cl citizenship including withdrawl of voting rights , so that the shape of our sub-continent can evolve naturally in a short period of time.. (I do not think that the think tank in thexpress office is going to have the guts to allow the posting of my comment)

Atleast they are consistently foolish. One certainly cannot blame SS for changing positions daily. I can respect them for this but that doesnt mean they get a licence to do anything they want just because they are ruling now. It just shows a diverted egoistic mind.
