"When the law takes its course against those who loot the nation, then we have to unite against those who seek an escape route by dubbing such an action as a political conspiracy," the Prime Minister tweeted.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday asked the political class to join hands against those seeking an escape route by dubbing action against graft as a political conspiracy, apparently indicating the recent graft cases against leaders of the Trinamool Congress and RJD.

Addressing an all-party meet ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament beginning tomorrow, he said action against corrupt politicians is a must.

“When the law takes its course against those who loot the nation, then we have to unite against those who seek an escape route by dubbing such an action as a political conspiracy,” the Prime Minister tweeted. Besides ensuring integrity in public life, action against corrupt politicians was a must. Every party should identify such leaders amongst themselves and disassociate itself from them, Modi said.

He also lamented that for the past few decades, the reputation of the political class has been at stake due to the behaviour of some politicians.

“We will have to assure the people that not all politicians are tainted,” Modi said. Modi’s remarks came against the backdrop of Trinamool Congress and RJD dubbing the action against their leaders by law enforcement agencies over alleged corruption as political conspiracy.

Opposition parties have often alleged that successive governments have used the CBI and other agencies as a political tool to arm-twist political rivals.

This idea of the PM's can cut both ways. It is not just monetary corruption but misdemeanours of a grave nature that can be classified as corrupt practice. What about identifying and isolating the following persons also: 1. Swaraj, for unprecedented help to a fugitive LaMo 2. Raje for certifying on behalf of LaMo to a British Court to help him stay in UK 3. Unnamed Gujarat politicians and Bureaucrats who helped Reliance, Essar and Adanis avoid Rs 1400 crore in whar e and other charges during 2010-2012 as confirmed by the CAG . 4. Persons involved in the stalled Chattisgarh PDS scam case.

Why are there corruption charges only against the opposition party members? Why no charges against ruling party members? Are we to blindly assume that all the NDA members are angels? Why is there no progress in the charges levelled against Modi regarding the Sarada and Aditya Birala papers? Why only charges and no prosecution, even though 3 years have passed since NDA took charge. What is clear from all the above is that Modi and his Government find it electorally convenient to misuse the CBI and frame charges against opposition and leave it in a state of completion and raise it every time the government comes under some kind of threat or at the time of elections.
