The Shri Rajput Karni Sena today called for a nationwide bandh on December 1 against the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film ‘Padmavati’, which finds itself mired in a controversy. The founder of the organisation Lokendra Singh Kalvi said that not only the Rajput community or Hindu organisations but even Muslim leaders had came against the film, against which there was resentment across the country.

He demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi intervene in the issue saying that the central government had the powers, as per the provisions of the Cinematography Act, to stop the release of a film for three months.

That provision should be invoked in case of Padmavati which is slated to be released on December 1, he said. “We are calling for a country-wide bandh on December 1 if the film is released. We have the support of all castes and communities. We will hold public meetings and rallies in Gurgaon, Patna and Bhopal before that,” Kalvi told reporters.

Kalvi said that the statement by actress Deepika Padukone, who plays the legendary queen in the movie, that nothing can stop the release of the film was “provocative”. No effort to tarnish the image of “Rani Padmavati” will be tolerated, he said.

Kalvi claimed that film hall owners’ association and distributors had refused to release the film in the state and leaders from political parties and communities were coming in support of the demand that there should be no distortion of historical facts.

He said that the film maker had promised to organise a pre-screening of the film before the censor board’s approval but he released the promo and song without taking the Rajput community into confidence. He said that now the Sena is not demanding any pre-screening but a total ban because the filmmaker had “betrayed”.

There is a breed of film makers in India, who exploit large number of sensitive citizens who live in the past even when their present and future are bleak. These artists are quite non-artist-like while promoting their films by making sure that their productions are released just prior to some major elections. Movies will be advertised as containing controversial plots or scenes that will be prejudicial to a religion or community or caste. Then the fringe take over and we know what happens thereafter. Subsequently, Producers approach the courts for safe release and these films become pivot for polarising voters. Finally, agitation becomes mere storm in a tea-cup and films are released. Promotion through communal divide may not be right way as it certainly divides people, minds and the nation itself. But this b of film-maker laughs all the way to bank. Wonder, whether deal happens between such film-makers and political parties to polarise voters through controversial films

Anand Narasimhan has gone out of head. Why this hot head and he does not have any advice for producers? These producers did not learn from past mistakes? Murder of History is intoxication for journalists/film makers and artists. Women development of Rajasthan is besides the point to the issue. The educated people are more stupid than uneducated housewives in several areas. Is it because of the percentage of Rajput is about 10 percent of the total population emboldening Anand to curse an affected community by the affluent money spinning film industry? Rajputs must prove their point by affirmative peaceful protests. Do not bring politics to this issue.

BOLLYWOOD must be extra careful while making FILMS based on HISTORIC INCIDENTS in which ANCESTORS of INDIANS were the VANQUISHED and the CRUEL INVADER were the VICTORs. The HISTORY as written by the VICTOR and VANQUISHED will NEVER be same. As most of India was under ISLAMIC RULE for about 600 years followed by BRITISH RULE, the existing INDIAN HISTORY has been written by the VICTORIOUS ISLAMIC RULERS or by BRITISH. After Independence, The LEFTIST HISTORIANS manipulated the system so that the INDIAN HISTORY is not allowed to be reviewed from the POINT of VIEW of the VANQUISHED INDIANS. So the HISTORICAL INCIDENTS still FAVOUR the CRUEL INVADERS which most Indians now refuse to accept. .......................... And in a DEMOCRACY the WILL of the MAJORITY will and should PREVAIL.
