The NIA on Monday issued a second notice to controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik asking him to appear before it on March 30 in a case filed against him under an anti-terror law. The agency had early this month issued the first summons to him asking him to appear on March 14. Officials said Naik has been summoned at the National Investigation Agency’s headquarters here.

The notice has been sent to the Mumbai residence of 51-year-old Naik, who is believed to be staying in Saudi Arabia to evade arrest after his activities came under scanner following accusations that he had inspired some of the terrorists who attacked a cafe in Dhaka last year.

An FIR against Naik and his associates was registered by the NIA in November last year.

The physician-turned-preacher has been booked for allegedly promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony. Sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) have also been slapped on him.

In the FIR, the NIA alleged that Naik incited Muslim youth to commit unlawful and terrorist acts, the official said.

The Centre had declared Islamic Research Foundation (IRF), an NGO based at Dongri in south Mumbai, an unlawful organisation under the UAPA.

The Delhi High Court had recently upheld the decision to immediately ban IRF saying the organisation and its president and members were indulging in “unlawful activity”.

Besides the IRF, Naik is also founding trustee of the IRF Educational Trust and the Islamic Dimensions Trust.

The speeches of Naik are banned in the UK, Canada and Malaysia.

Naik has rejected all allegations of involvement in terror-related activities and opposed ban on the IRF.

IAm a follower of your comments . U always had a stand where there is a truth so i respect it . But let me tell you ,even though am not a follower of this man i was happened to see his speeches on tv .. HE used to have healthy debate with Hindu christian Jew priests . He always promoted existence of a single god that s what i could understand from his speech. he never defamed or insulted other religion .. Why i felt respect for this guy is ,I heard him say All who live in India are hindus .Be it a person muslim by religion or a christian ,,,they are hindus because they live in hindustan ,,,lt;br/gt; lt;br/gt;Hinduism is a culture not a religion and the religion what we call Hindu is really know as vedas ... So those who follow the culture hindusim are hindus ..Thats what he taught the audience .lt;br/gt; lt;br/gt; any ways .. If he had said those controversial statements what is shown by the indian government is from him .then .. I dont agree with his stand.. But most of the people who are his good followers says he can never speak it and it is doctored ... GOd knows lt;br/gt;lt;br/gt; he is not returning to India may be to be frank its bjp whos governing .and he is worrried he will never get justice and will never see light again... .,

nothing like that my dear .. being a muslim i always had a stand against terrorism .because they kill innocents .. when i read any such incidents i just imagine my kids my family at their place who are being killed. ..And of course i could realize the pain of those people who lost their dear ones .. lt;br/gt; i think many muslims who live a normal life here india are against terrorism ..They have no time to hink about such matters in between their fast life to meet the needs of life. They interact with many people from different religion during their daily activities.. and they feel the same for the country like all others feel.........So i have a request customize ur prejudice over this religion using ur wisdom ,,, we all are humans with same body structure ,,way of functioning and way of feeling ,and senses ... So just ignore such comments .
