BSP chief Mayawati on Thursday said Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has fulfilled his “’bachkani zid” (childish stubbornness) by inaugurating the trial run of Lucknow Metro before it could be ready for public use.
“It would have been better if he had waited and, as per tradition, inaugurated it on March 26, 2017 when it will be opened for the public. But it seems that the head of the SP government believes that he is not coming back to power and thus, it was done in haste to gain cheap popularity and smacks of bachkani zid of the chief minister,” she said in a statement.
Mayawati added that on returning to power next year, she would order a probe into the appointments and big financial decisions taken by the SP government in its last days. She said that her government will also probe complaints of “transactions of costly land in important areas”.
“Lack of action against Congress and BJP for accepting donations from foreign companies is sending a message that laws are not the same for all,” added Maya.
