Mamata Banerjee wishes speedy recovery of ailing Sushma Swaraj

Swaraj Swaraj, underwent a kidney transplant at AIIMS, with the organ being harvested from a living unrelated donor and her condition is stable.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday wished a speedy and total recovery of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who underwent a kidney transplant. “Wish a speedy and full recovery for @SushmaSwaraj Ji after her surgery at AIIMS,” Banerjee said in a tweet.

Swaraj, 64, underwent a kidney transplant at AIIMS on Saturday, with the organ being harvested from a living unrelated donor and her condition is stable. According to sources at AIIMS, the nearly six-hour-long surgery was conducted at the cardio-thoracic centre by a team of 50 personnel including transplant surgeons, transplant anaesthesiologists, nurses, technicians and other supporting staff.

The team comprised Mishra, surgeons V K Bansal and V Seenu, nephrologist Sandeep Mahajan and Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) chief Dr Balram Airan among others.
