MUMBAI:State government spent Rs 10,503 crore on pension in 2011-12,an increase of 18 per cent since 2010-11. This hike is being attributed to the revision of payments under the Sixth Pay Commission norms. To limit future pension liabilities,government has introduced a Defined Contribution Pension Scheme for staff recruited after November 2005. In 2011-12,Rs 748.41 crore was deposited towards employees contribution and employers share. Pension expenditure during 2007-08 was Rs 4,191 crore,an increase of 38 per cent till 2011-12.
Editor of Marathi weekly held for molesting niece
PARLI VAIJNATH:Editor of a Marathi weekly,who was absconding after allegedly molesting his minor niece,has been arrested,police said Friday. The accused is the editor of Maanpatra,a Marathi weekly published from Parli Vaijnath.
