The Bombay High Court today sought Maharashtra government’s reply to a PIL which alleges corruption in allotment of public parking lots in the city.

Petitioner Pravin Wategaonkar alleged that “someone” close to the Chief Minister and the Minister of State for Urban Development was charging exorbitant amounts for clearing proposals for allotment of public parking lots.

The petition wanted investigation under Prevention of Corruption Act.

He sought direction to be issued to the Maharashtra government to submit details of proposals sanctioned so far since the present Urban Development Minister and Chief Minister assumed office.

A division bench of Chief Justice Mohit Shah and Justice A V Mohta directed government pleader D A Nalavade to take instructions in the matter by May 2.
