The state legislative Assembly Tuesday paid rich tributes to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, who passed away Monday night. Later, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis left for Chennai to attend the funeral.
As a mark of respect, the Maharashtra Assembly and Council were adjourned for the day after leaders across party lines paid rich tributes to Jayalalithaa. “Jayalalithaa was a versatile leader who displayed firm resolve through administration, public welfare schemes and undisputed political leadership in Tamil Nadu,” said Fadnavis.
While outlining the journey of her life from a film actor to a successful politician who united the faction-ridden parties under AIADMK through her leadership, he said, “The most notable was the title Amma earned through immense affection from the people.” “Jayalalithaa made a mark across the state and country and was always known for maintaining cordial relations across party lines,” he added.
