A 40-year-old farmer tried to commit suicide by consuming pesticide in Narayanpur, in Mandsaur district of Madhya Pradesh, reportedly after he failed to withdraw money from his account nearly a month after he had deposited a cheque of Rs 25,141.

Radheshyam Prajapati, now stated to be out of danger, said that he received the cheque from a trader who bought his agriculture produce on November 24. According to Prajapati, he deposited the cheque the same day but was told during several visits to the bank that the cheque had not been cleared.

On Saturday, he reportedly carried pesticide when he went to the bank. Denied money again, he began consuming it in the branch itself.
