A Pune court on Tuesday pronounced a man guilty of raping his 17-year-old daughter and sentenced him to eight years rigorous imprisonment. It also slapped a fine of Rs 1,000 on the convict.
The incident had taken place in Warje Malwadi area in March 2012,and an offence had been registered at the Warje police station.
Inspector Sunil Darekar and Sub-Inspector J R Gaikwad had conducted the investigation.
According to the police,the man raped his daughter on March 11 and 16,2012,when there was nobody else at home.
When he made an attempt for the third time,the girl shouted for help. Neighbours rushed to their residence and brought the incident to the notice of the police.
The Warje police arrested the man on charges of raping his daughter. Additional public prosecutor Vikas Shah examined six witnesses in the case.
The statements of the victim girl and the doctor who conducted her medical test proved crucial.
