Ruling National Conference today said Jammu and Kashmir does not need “RSS-backed” Anna Hazare to fight corruption.
The people of the state would have to put their heads together to eradicate the menace,NC spokesman Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal said in a statement here.
“We do not need Anna Hazares. We all in the state have to put our heads together and unitedly work to fight this menace,” he said.
Responding to PDP president Mehbooba Mufti’s demand for the civil society, including Anna Hazare,to intervene in state matters,Kamaal said the opposition party had become “politically bankrupt”.
“That is why it is sacrificing its rhetoric of self rule and is now requesting RSS-backed Anna Hazare to come to J&K,” he said.
Kamaal said the demand of Mehbooba “is both surprising and confusing particularly in view of the recent revelation of his (Hazare’s) RSS connections”.
“Mehbooba wants Hazare to guide us in tackling the menace of corruption. This shows she has lost faith in the people of the state,” he said.
