Jammu and Kashmir Government suspends 40 teachers

Officials say teachers were found absent from duty during a surprise inspection.

Jammu and Kashmir government suspended 40 teachers of various schools in Jammu district for unauthorised absence from duty on Thursday.

A high-level committee constituted by Director,School Education,Sourabh Bhagat found the teachers absent from duty during a surprise inspection,officials said.

The committee headed by Joint Director,Secondary Education,conducted surprise inspections at various schools and ordered suspension of the teaching and non-teaching staff found unauthorisedly absent from duty,they said.

At Government Higher Secondary School (Migrant) Jagti in Nagrota belt of Jammu,the inspection team suspended 33 staff members,including the Principal as only 7 of the total 40 officials were present,they said.

Similarly,at Government Middle School Jagti,5 out of total 9 staff members were found absent from the duty and were placed under suspension,they said,adding two staff members were suspended at Government Higher Secondary School,Channi Himmat in Jammu city.
