Infiltration bid foiled near LOC,two army men die in ambush

Army today foiled an infiltration bid in North Kashmir’s Machil sector.

Army today foiled an infiltration bid in North Kashmir’s Machil sector. Two army men including an officer were killed in the encounter that is still in going on.

This is the first infiltration that has been foiled by the Army in Machil sector. So far there are no reports about the militant causalities.

Sources said that Army’s patrolling party spotted a group of infiltrators near the Line of Control in Machil sector. The infiltrators were challenged by the army that resulted in an encounter in which two army jawans lost their lives. Army said that encounter is still in progress and operation has been launched to track down the infiltrators.

From last week Army has launched a big search operation in North Kashmir’s Handwara and Kupwara areas after a group of infiltrators were spotted on the Line of Control in Tangdhar sector. Sources said two battalions of Army,Army’s Para Commandos and troops from Special Operation Group of Police were involved in the search operation along the Line of Control from Handwara to Tanghdar forests. However no contact was established with the militants. Army has stepped up surveillance along the LoC as this is the time when militants try to sneak into the Valley. Besides,barbed wire fencing three tier security is in place all along the LoC to prevent the infiltration.
