Followers vacate Rohtak’s Satlok ashram amid tight security

Sant Rampal was booked on charges of murder on Monday.

Followers of the Satlok ashram in Rohtak have agreed to vacate the premises amid heavy security presence.

Earlier,the situation threatened to snowball after the state government decided to forcefully vacate the ashram.

The district administration had imposed Section 144 in the area yesterday. The Deputy Commissioner of Rohtak,Vikas Gupta said,”There is a large number of persons camping inside the Ashram,which is violation of Section 144 of CrPC. Thus we have initiated action to get the Ashram vacated of the possession of Sant Rampal and his followers.”

The Arya Samaj followers again damaged three Haryana roadways buses this morning and refused to open the NH-71 (Rohtak-Jhajjar highway). A large number of Arya Samaj followers have camped near the Karontha village and have kept one of the three deceaseds’ body on the highway.

The protesters are demanding that they shall not cremate Promila (who died yesterday in police-protestors clash) till the State government closes down the Ashram and take away Sant Rampal and his followers.

Over 2000 armed police personnel,CRPF,Rapid Action Force led by the top Haryana police officers and district administration officers had been pressed into action to vacate the ashram.

The police personnel made repeated announcements through Public Address systems appealing the Arya Samaj followers to maintain peace and voluntarily vacate the Ashram.

Sant Rampal,who was booked on charges of murder yesterday is also likely to be arrested by the police today.
