Assembly polls in Delhi,Chhattisgarh,MP,Mizoram and Rajasthan from Nov 11

The Election Commission on Friday announced the dates for Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh,Chhattisgarh,Delhi,Rajasthan and Mizoram. The counting of votes in all the states will be held on December 8.

Assembly elections will be held in Delhi,Rajasthan,Madhya Pradesh,Mizoram and Chhattisgarh from November 11.

While Chhattisgarh will have a two-phase polling on November 11 and November 19,the remaining states will have a single-phase poll.

For the first time,voters will have an option of ‘none of the above’ (NOTA) in these polls where they can decide not to vote any of the candidates in the fray.

Sampath said there were 11 crore voters spread over 630 constituencies in these five states.

Voting will take place in 1.30 lakh polling stations,the CEC said,adding the Model Code of Conduct comes into effect immediately.

Replying to a question on disqualification of convicted MPs,he said the Election Commission will announce vacancies only after they are notified by Rajya Sabha Chairman and Lok Sabha Speaker.

Last day for withdrawal of nomination: November 11

Polling: November 25

Delhi:

Issue of notification: November 9

Last date of filing nomination: November 16

Last date for scrutiny of nomination: November 18

Last day for withdrawal of nomination: November 20

Polling: December 4

Chhattisgarh:

First phase:

Issue of notification: October 18

Last date of filing nomination: October 25

Last date for scrutiny of nomination: October 26

Last day for withdrawal of nomination: October 28

Polling: November 11

Second phase:

Issue of notification: October 25

Last date of filing nomination: November 1

Last date for scrutiny of nomination: November 2

Last day for withdrawal of nomination: November 4

Polling: November 19

Rajasthan:

Issue of notification: November 5

Last date of filing nomination: November 12

Last date for scrutiny of nomination: November 13

Last day for withdrawal of nomination: November 16

Polling: December 1

Mizoram:

Issue of notification: November 9

Last date of filing nomination: November 16

Last date for scrutiny of nomination: November 18

Last day for withdrawal of nomination: November 20

Polling: December 4
