A 22-year-old man died after he was allegedly shot at by his friend in Northwest Delhis Trinagar area on Wednesday. The victim,Harvinder Singh,was staying the night at his friend Amolak Singhs house where the incident took place around 12.45 pm.
According to the police,Amolak,Harvinder and their friend Indrapreet had a get together at Amolaks house. There,Indrapreet allegedly opened fire using his personal bodyguards pistol and a bullet hit Harvinder. He was taken to a local hospital by his friends where he succumbed to injuries. Police arrested Indrapreet on charges of murder. Harvinder was working as a promoter with a cellphone company,while Indrapreet has a spare parts business in Kashmiri Gate.
Speaking to Newsline,Mahender Kaur,Harvinders mother said Amolak had called her on Wednesday and had asked her to send Harvinder to his place as his parents were out of town. Amolak later came to fetch Harvinder. I did not know that a third person was also coming and that they had planned a get together. I spoke to my son around 10.30 pm and everything seemed okay then.
It was 2.30 am when police reached Harvinders house and informed his parents about his death.
While relatives of Harvinder alleged that the murder was planned,the accused said it was an accident.
Meanwhile,police said that Indrapreet had told them that they were just holding the gun and examining it when it accidentally went off and hit Harvinder.
There are many allegations and counter allegations that need to be verified. The investigation is on, said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Romil Baaniya said.
Harvinder was the only earning member of the family. His father Ajeet Singh is a retired government official.
His sister,Gurpreet Kaur said,I was shocked to learn of my brother death. No one informed us when the incident happened. It was only after he was taken to hospital and everything was over that we were told.
