Two days after a group of 15 women were allegedly abused and attacked by senior AIADMK leaders in Ooty, the police is refusing to take action against the accused.

On Thursday, a group of 25 people, including 15 women — all aged 50-60 — were allegedly threatened and attacked by party workers while they were cleaning and painting a wall which had graffiti and birthday wishes for AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa.

Shobana Chandrasekar, leader of the group ‘Make Ooty Beautiful’, said, “AIADMK town secretary P K Devaraj abused us. They made vulgar comments at older women.”

The women approached the district SP but he reportedly blamed them for undertaking the cleaning work without police permission. T Senthil Kumar, SP of Nilgiris, did not comment on the issue.
