An alleged rape victim was arrested by Haryana Police on Monday for criminal intimidation and released on bail today. The victim,a former airlines employee, has been running from pillar to post seeking action against the man who allegedly raped her and is roaming free. She was arrested while she was protesting outside the Hisar mini secretariat.

The incident came to light when the victim allegedly threatened to kill Dharna Yadav,Deputy Superintendent of Police in the presence of another police officer on Monday. Hisar police officers claim that the victim threatened Dharna Yadav,DSP,when she refused to hand over certain documents.

The victim, who is a resident of Sector 13,Hisar,lodged a complaint with the police on February 27 alleging that Rahul was having sex with her for nearly two years on assurance of marriage but later refused. Though the police booked Rahul on charges of rape,he was not arrested. The Hisar court refused to grant him bail but he secured one later from the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Since then the victim has been approaching various senior police officers of Haryana seeking justice. A few days back she staged a sit-in in front of the mini secretariat and was arrested. The victim alleged that since the accused belongs to a rich and influential family, the police has been shielding him. She also alleged that since Rahul was roaming free after getting bail from the High Court, she was receiving threats to her life from him.

While the victim alleged that police officers were not sympathetic and refused to help her,the police officers claimed that they had already done the needful as per law. “We have prepared a chargesheet in the case registered on the girl’s complaint and shall be submitting it in court soon,” said the Hisar Superintendent of Police Satheesh P Balan.
