Woman beats 9-year-old son to death for not studying

A nine-year-old boy,a student of Class III,was beaten to death by his mother for playing pranks,not taking interest in studies and for not attending school.

A nine-year-old boy,a student of Class III,was beaten to death by his mother for playing pranks,not taking interest in studies and for not attending school.

The incident took place on March 28. The complaint in this case has been registered at the Dehu Road police station.

Police have identified the deceased boy as Kishor,alias Sonya Bhaskar Giri,a resident of Rupeenagar area of Pimpri-Chinchwad. The Dehu Road police arrested his mother Manisha Bhaskar Giri (35). She was produced before the Wadgaon Maval court on Thursday. The court remanded her in magisterial custody. She was then lodged at the Yerawada Central Prison.

Police said that Manisha Giri is a labourer. She was angry with her son as he was neither going to school nor was he studying. So she beat him badly with a stick.

The boy received major injuries. He was then rushed to the Yeshwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital in Pimpri by family members and neighbours. However,he was pronounced dead on arrival by doctors at the hospital.
