An unmarried couple was found hanging from a tree in Natthuwala Jadeed village in Moga on Tuesday morning.

An unmarried couple was found hanging from a tree in Natthuwala Jadeed village in Moga on Tuesday morning.

The couple — while the girl was around 20,the boy was 22 years old — had been reportedly in a relationship for the past few months,but girls’ family was not agreeing to their wedding. Both were residents of Dhoor Kot Kalan village,which is 15 km from the spot where their bodies were found.

ASI Jaipal Singh of Ajitwal police station,said: “No suicide not has been found from the spot and families of both the victims are denying that they were in a relationship. We are looking into the matter.”

Police have registered a case under Section 174 of CrPC (death under suspicious circumstances).

Following the postmortem of the bodies at the Moga Civil Hospital, the bodies were handed over to their respective families.

Sources said the girl’s father had contacted some of his relatives for her marriage. Following which,the couple reportedly took the extreme step.
