Union minister Maneka Gandhi has been accused of slapping and kicking a forest staff in Mala forest range of Pilibhit Tiger Reserve while police on Tuesday said that they are looking into the complaint.

“We are going into the complaint against the minister,” a senior police official said, adding that no FIR has been lodged in this connection.

Approached for comments, Maneka told reporters outside Parliament, “I am not even answering things like this.”

In the complaint with Gajraula police, forest department employee Rooplal alleged that Maneka had slapped and kicked him after she got annoyed seeing a jungle fire while on her way to Puranpur to attend a function on Sunday.

Rooplal complained that the Union Minister for Women and Child Welfare stopped at Garha forest barrier in Mala forest range when she saw residue of wheat crop being burnt in adjacent fields.

She lost her cool and held him responsible for it, he alleged. The deputy forest ranger present on the spot fled sensing trouble, leaving Rooplal to fend for himself, he claimed.

He alleged that the minister got angry with him and hit him.

Rooplal narrated the incident to Minister of State in Uttar Pradesh government Riyaz Ahmad and District Magistrate O N Singh, who were attending a rifle shooting competition.

Singh had said if the forest employee lodged a written complaint, he would get the matter probed.

Ahmed said assaulting a government employee was condemnable.

Maneka is one person who stays out of any controversies and dragging her into this is a ploy to malign her. Someone commented in here whether animals are more important than human beings. We need to understand that we humans are also part of nature and we are not above it. For our greed, we keep cutting forests in the name of expansion and what will it eventually lead to? Probably drought and other natural disasters.

Actually you know, letting the BJP win so many seats and have a govt unhindered by opposition is the chief conspiracy the SP and the Congress pla! They figured that with such unbridled power, there will be hubris and inflated egos and such showdowns. Very cunning and evil these SP and Congress are, aren't they? Really ministers should slap and kick everybody around, in order to find out the SP and Congress conspirators! Because, then the conspirators will not file complaints (they will feign fear of the govt and the police), yet will let the media somehow know about the incidents, and then you know who the conspirators are. Punish them now legally after they are found out! Slapping and kicking will not be enough punishment to those who remain subordinates to ministers and wait to be slapped and kicked in order to spread the news conspiratorially. I suppose the forest dept employee should be now charged with attempt to suicide, inciting violence (upon himself), disturbing social harmony and peace, etc. A law should be ped that anyone venturing within one km of a minister without at least a hundred mediapersons in attendance should be necessarily slapped and kicked and then charged with all of the above. Without such stringent laws, the SP and Congress conspirators cannot be prevented from their treacherous conspiracies.

This is what we have been saying all along. Women in position, misuse and har men. Harment in workplace does not depend on gender but on power. All work place laws should be made gender neutral.
