Sarpanch shot at by unidentified gunman in south Kashmir

Police said Mohammad Yaqoob Malla 40 who was elected Sarpanch of Pahalpora village was attacked by the unidentified gunmen in Shopian market this afternoon.

Unidentified gunmen on Tuesday attacked and injured a Sarpanch in South Kashmir’s Shopian town.

Police said Mohammad Yaqoob Malla 40 who was elected Sarpanch of Pahalpora village was attacked by the unidentified gunmen in Shopian market this afternoon.

Malla was rushed to district hospital Shopian where from he was shifted to Srinagar for specialized treatment. Doctors say that Malla’s condition is critical. Soon after the attack, army, police and the CRPF cordoned the area and started search operation.

Sarpanch Mohammad Yaqoob Malla was shot in the market by the militants. Police has launched manhunt to trace the attackers,” SP Shopian, Altaf Khan said.

Malla had earlier also escaped bid on his life when militants attacked him two years ago when he coming out from the mosque in his village.
