Two CRPF personnel, including an officer, were killed when militants attacked a road opening party (ROP) of the paramilitary force in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. The attackers also fled away with an AK-47 rifle of one of two slain CRPF men.

This is the second militant strike in south Kashmir in three days. On Saturday, 16 people were injured in a grenade attack in Shopian district.

Police said the militants attacked the ROP party of the CRPF’s 90 battalion, deployed at Halmulla Sangam on National Highway in Anantnag. “The attack took place at 3 pm today and two CRPF personnel, including an assistant sub-inspector, died on the spot,” said SP Anantnag Abdul Jabbar. The slain personnel have been identified as assistant sub-inspector O N Singh, and constable Tilak Raj.

Brazen . killing ROP troops and snatched weapons. Throw back to the 90s. Ever since J&K became overpolitisized forces lost interest and got demoralized and stopped serious hunt and kill missions. Forget AFSPA, J&K needs preside ts rule under disturbed areas act. All such elements will get terminated
