Two arrested in ‘gangrape’ case

Amritsar Police Saturday arrested two of the three accused in the gangrape case of a 20-year-old girl who had alleged that she was dragged into a car while returning from work on late Monday evening and was gangraped by three persons.

Amritsar Police Saturday arrested two of the three accused in the gangrape case of a 20-year-old girl who had alleged that she was dragged into a car while returning from work on late Monday evening and was gangraped by three persons.

As per police,Ajay Kumar alias Aditya and Sanju Kumar alias Abhi were arrested from Dhupai T point on Chabbal road around 4 pm.

Amritsar Deputy Commissioner of Police Kaustubh Sharma told reporters that another accused in the case Sandeep Rana alias Rocky was absconding. The DCP added that Aditya and Abhi were brothers.

He said that intial probe had revealed that the accused “talked with the girl and then made her sit in the car” and that there was no apparent abduction. The DCP also said that as per investigations,the accused were not known to the girl. “We are still verifying allegations made by the girl that she was pulled into the car. We are also verifying the allegations about the places the accused drove their car towards,” he added.

“As per investigations so far,the accused committed a sort of forcible intercourse with the woman,” DCP said.

All 11 accused in eve-teasing and assault case arrested

Amritsar Police Saturday arrested three more persons in the alleged eve-teasing and assault case of a girl who was returning from tuition. The girl and her brother were allegedly assaulted after they objected to the eve-teasing. The accused later barged into the victim’s house and beat up the victims’ family members. With the three arrests,all 11 accused have been captured.
