A 32-year-old tutor was arrested in Bangalore on Wednesday for allegedly raping a 10-year-old student.
D Biju, a resident of Somasandrapalya and a native of Kerala, is accused of repeatedly abusing the girl, starting September 3, when she went to his home for taking tuitions. A complaint was lodged on Wednesday after the girl told her parents about the abuse.
Police have registered a case of rape and booked Biju under the POCSO Act. The victim, a Class V student at a private school, was being coached by Biju, her neighbour, at his house for the past two years. But last week, the teacher allegedly went to the victim’s house and asked her to come at 4.30 pm, before the other students arrived, for a “special class”. That day, he allegedly took her to a room and sexually assaulted her. He also warned the girl of dire consequences if she disclosed his act.
Biju allegedly repeated the assault on September 6. When she resisted, he warned her and rebuked her in front of other students for not doing her homework.
On Wednesday, when her parents and neighbours accosted Biju, he rushed to the police station, claiming that a mob had come to beat him up for punishing a girl for not concentrating on her studies. Police arrested him based on the complaint lodged by the girl’s parents.
