Tinsukia killings: Rajnath Singh assures help to Assam CM Tarun Gogoi

Nandalal and Kajol were killed in indiscriminate firing by suspected ULFA (I) militants in Bijuliban village in Tinsukia on Tuesday night. His wife, son and nephew were also injured.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Friday morning on the killing of a Hindi-speaking businessman Nandalal Shah, 65, and his daughter Kajol Shah, 21, by suspected ULFA (I) militants in Tinsukia district on Tuesday night.

Gogoi apprised the Home Minister of the current situation in Tinsukia, which has seen protests over the deaths over the past two days, and told Singh that security forces have been pressed into action to maintain law and order in the region. During the telephonic conversation, Singh assured Gogoi of all assistance needed from the Centre, including additional deployment of security forces if required.
