BJP MLA Sangeet Som, an accused in the Muzaffarnagar riots, has been accorded Z-plus security following regular intelligence inputs about a threat to his life.

Som was accused by the Uttar Pradesh police of uploading a video, which reportedly sparked communal tension in Muzaffarnagar, where 65 people were killed in September last year.

“This is one of the cases where we have decided to accord security purely on merit and not due to any political intervention. Intelligence agencies have several phone intercepts wherein extreme outfits and individuals are making plans to kill Som. We are not going into the legal cases slapped on him by the UP police. Irrespective of that, he has a threat to his life,” a senior official said on condition of anonymity.

A high-level security committee under the Ministry of Home Affairs, comprising IB officials, decided to grant the security status to Som recently. One of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) will be assigned the responsibility.

“We are yet to decide on which CAPF will be given the responsibility, but it will definitely be a central force. On many occasions we request the state government to accord security on our behalf, but this time, we cannot take a chance. The details are still being chalked out,” the official said.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who recently reviewed the security status of VIPs, gave the nod to the proposal after he was convinced that Som faced serious threat to his life.

Completely Agree. Sangeet Som should be praised for his helping hand to the Hindus in UP. Sections of Media has tried to portray him as rioter, but he actually should be regarded as a nationalist. All Hindus must support BJP, Sena, SAD and like minded parties. We must uproot these parties from India's soil: SP, Congress, RJD, JD-U, AIMIM, NCP, NC, PDP, Left, DMK. All these parties are anti-national, anti-India and anti-Hindu

Indian media is the most hopeless media in the world. They run behind TRP. Always do NEGATIVe reporting. Positive reporting in not in their veins. You pay & they are ready to do anything.

“This is one of the cases where we have decided to accord security purely on meritand not due to any political intervention…..”So it is imperative that more often than not Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF)security is provided with merely on ‘political intervention’.Strange are the ways of Ministry of Home Affairs. Udhav Thakrey, Amit Shah speaksvenom. Irom C Sharmila released after a trial of 14 years only to be rearrested within 40 hrs with no sight of effective discussion. Minister accusedand serving prison is released on bail.Wait …. The old adage ‘the more you live, the more you learn’

we were thinking of Ram Rajya and what we get is ' Andheri nagri chaupat raja'.. The formula for instant success and fame has become very easy in India.. Indulge in mindless killing and looting of helpless Indian citizens.. u will immediately get mmoney , fame and of course a dozen or so policemen gaurding you on 24x7 basis. the common man on his own can batle price rises, dysfunctional railways, pathetic law and order, untold miseries and of course the daily incidents of rape and eave teasing

I think modi government should go ahead and give police cover to every criminal of the country, the people who doesn't have threat to their life are common people.Acche din aa e!bjp and modi had one opportunity to change their communal image, but with actions like these they lost it big time.
