“We politicians are the labour class who do not get time to rest,” says Haryana Janhit Congress chief Kuldeep Bishnoi, one of the contestants from Hisar. After a hectic campaign schedule in the days preceding the elections, Bishnoi managed to take a break for family time.

“After polling finished in Haryana on April 10, I was touring my constituency, meeting people and listening to their issues. I got no free time for over a month and a half. Then I managed to go to UK with my wife and daughter to meet my sons who are studying there and have a family reunion,” Bishnoi said in an interview.

Wife Renuka, also a politician, is the MLA from Adampur and campaigned with him across the state.

“After polling ended, we got some free time to meet our friends, attend social gatherings, watch movies and just chill out. Then, of course its back to work,” he added.

Bishnoi also campaigned for BJP candidates in other States. “I campaigned for Anurag Thakur in Himachal Pradesh and in various parts of Rajasthan. We have also started preparations for Haryana Assembly elections, due later this year, and I attended several political meetings in Chandigarh and Gurgaon,” Bishnoi added.

Asked about any anxiety over results, Bishnoi said, “I am not at all worried. The only thing I am anxious to know is whether or not I have been able to increase my victory margin from last time.”
