Terming the special CBI’s court’s verdict that discharged party chief Amit Shah in the fake encounters case as a “victory of truth” and a vindication of its stand that Congress “misused” the CBI for political gains, the BJP Tuesday asked Sonia Gandhi to apologise to the nation.
“The order of the special court is a victory of truth. It is a vindication of our stand that Congress has misused the CBI and other agencies against its opponents for political gains…Since Congress cannot win over BJP politically, it conspired to tarnish the image of Amit Shah by embroiling him in a fake case,” BJP’s national secretary Shrikant Sharma said.
A special CBI court in Mumbai discharged Shah on grounds that there existed “no case” against him and that he had been implicated for “political reasons”.
In an article released by the BJP, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said he was one among the few who had consistently maintained in the past three years that Shah’s prosecution was a case of “no evidence” because he had analysed the evidences. “Without analysing the evidence in detail, the media reported as they were briefed by the CBI. Even a vital note on the CBI file that the implication of Amit Shah was necessary so that the then Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Narendra Modi could be implicated was no news for them,” he said.
