Temple stampedes: Supreme Court seeks response from centre,states

Seeks responses stricter security arrangements to prevent stampedes.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday sought responses from the Center and all state governments over proper crowd management and stricter security arrangements to prevent stampedes at temples across the country. A bench led by Chief Justice P Sathasivam issued notices to the Central and state governments on a PIL filed by a lawyer,who sought laying down guidelines for better management during religious festivities across temples. The PIL cited several past instances where people lost their lives owing to such stampedes.
