Teesta Setalvad released from preventive detention

Civil rights activist Teesta Setalvad has been released after being put under preventive detention on 7th anniversary of Godhra train carnage.

Civil rights activist Teesta Setalvad has been released after being put under preventive detention by the police in Godhra early Friday,on the seventh anniversary of the Godhra train carnage in which 59 people in a bogie of the Sabarmati Express were charred to death.

Teesta was to have addressed a gathering near the burnt bogie still lying at the Godhra railway station,when the Godhra Police apprehended her on the way there.

Additional Director General of Police Pramod Kumar said she was detained under sections 68 and 69 of the Bombay Police Act,to prevent any untoward incident.
