A state legislature committee headed by Ganpatrao Deshmukh has suggested the suspension of MLAs Jaykumar Rawal (BJP),Rajan Salvi (Shiv Sena) and Pradeep Jaiswal (independent) be revoked in the monsoon session beginning in mid-July.

The Indian Express had reported the panel, whose report was tabled in the Assembly Thursday, had held Kshitij Thakur (Bahujan Vikas Adhadi) and Ram Kadam (MNS) guilty of attacking assistant police inspector (traffic) Sachin Suryavanshi at Vidhan Bhawan. The MLAs have been suspended for a year, which means they cannot attend both the monsoon and winter sessions of the legialature.

Assembly Speaker Dilip Walse-Patil did not allow a discussion on the panel findings,as demanded by leader of opposition Eknath Khadse.

He said,“The report says Suryavanshi was beaten up by the MLAs but did not incur serious injury as has been projected by the police force.”

Also holding Suryavanshi guilty of misbehaving with Thakur, the panel suggested a committee headed by the state chief secretary be set up to look at cases of misbehaviour by government employees. Thakur and Suryavanshi had entered into an altercation after the API slapped two charges on the MLA despite paying a fine for overspeeding on Bandra-Worli Sealink.
