Sukhbir removes political appointees

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal has decided not to have any political appointees working with him.

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal has decided not to have any political appointees working with him. Respecting the deputy chief minister’s decision,his political secretary Paramjeet Singh Sidhwan and three officers on special duty (OSDs) Charanjeet Singh Brar,Avtar Singh and Gurvinder Singh have tendered resignations from their respective posts. They have been accepted by the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.

Sarbdyal to remain in VB custody till Oct 26

Amritsar: A local court on Tuesday remanded,Sarbdyal Singh,the former personal secretary to former Punjab Cabinet minister Gulzar Singh Ranike,to the Vigilance Bureau (VB) custody till October 26. Sarbdyal,who was brought from Nainital,has been arrested for his alleged role in the case of embezzlement of rural development funds.

Bhagat Lal sitting on 250 files,says Cong

Chandigarh: The Punjab Congress on Tuesday demanded the immediate dismissal of Local Bodies Minister Chuni Lal Bhagat followed by a vigilance inquiry into functioning of his department for deliberately ”keeping a large number of files pending”” In a statement issued here,Congress MLAs Brahm Mohindra,Parminder Singh and Gurkirat Singh alleged that 250 files in the department of local bodies had been kept pending by the minister for””extraneous reasons.”
