Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal Monday termed Congress a headless-chicken — both in Punjab and the rest of the country — not knowing where it was heading and desperately short of issues and ideas.

“Congress leaders in Punjab are reduced to doing the catching up with us on every issue — be it wealth tax on agriculture or relief for debt-ridden farmers. No sooner does SAD- BJP alliance articulates an issue of the people, the Congress leaders rush to Delhi, seek an appointment with any central leader they can get hold of for a photo opportunity for newspapers. Once this is done, they no longer talk about that issue,” said Sukhbir.

He went on to claim that the state Congress has been reduced to the level of “idler’s club”. “The PPCC leaders have outsourced even their elementary thinking processes to their press note writers, who are generally a day behind the ruling alliance and prepare their responses only on the basis of what SAD-BJP leaders have said a day earlier. The issue of wealth tax on agriculture is just one example. They started rushing to their masters after exactly one week of the SAD expressing strong opposition to it,” Sukhbir said.
