Submit report on unsafe school buildings: HC

The Punjab and Haryana High Court Monday directed the Punjab government to submit a status report containing a complete list of all schools,which have been declared ‘unsafe’ by the PWD department.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court Monday directed the Punjab government to submit a status report containing a complete list of all schools,which have been declared ‘unsafe’ by the PWD department. The state has been directed to submit the report by next date of hearing on May 8. The directions were passed during the resumed hearing of a PIL filed by Advocate H C Arora. The petitioner sought directions to the Education Department to shift students from five government primary schools from buildings declared ‘unsafe’ by PWD Department,in Ludhiana (as per CAG report). The directions came on a submission that there were a large number of government schools in Punjab,which have been declared ‘unsafe’ by PWD.
