A group of youths belonging to an organisation called Bhim Sena threw stones at the entrance gate of Asaram ashram at Phetri village near here on Wednesday afternoon.

Superintendent of Police (Nagpur rural) Manoj Kumar Sharma said the youths were 10 to 12 in numbers and one if them had been arrested.

“They came on motorcycles around 2 pm,raised slogans against Asaram Bapu and threw stones at the entrance cabin,breaking the windowpanes,” he said.

No casualty was reported.

“We had information on the possibility of an attack,so the police reached there in time and and caught hold of one of the miscreants,Swapnil Gajbhiye. The rest managed to flee,four of them leaving their bikes behind. We have got their identities and are tracing them,” said Sharma. Gajbhiye and others have been booked on charges of rioting. The SP said banners of Bhim Sena,a registered organisation,were recovered from the spot.
