VIKRAM Dhanaula, the man who had hurled a shoe on Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on August 15 last year, is in news again. On Monday, he tore off Badal’s photograph from an 108 ambulance parked at Dhanaula civil hospital and later was put under arrest.

Booked under Sections 107/ 151, Dhanula was produced in SDM Amarvir Singh’s court and sent to Barnala jail for two days.

Dhanaula had on June 19 written a letter to Badal stating that the CM must remove his pictures from 108 ambulances or he will do so himself.

In the letter, he had said: “Because of the CM’s photographs, the National Health Mission (NHM) has withheld the grant to be released to the state. If he is keen, the CM can get his pictures pasted on his buses.”

SHO Subegh Singh said: “We arrested Vikram from the bus stand area later.”

According to the recent CAG report, Punjab has had to forgo Rs 23.8 crore grant since 2012 because of the CM’s refusal to remove his photographs from 108 ambulances.

SHO Singh also said that a new picture of the CM was pasted on the ambulance within an hour of the incident.
Vikram had unsuccessfully contested the recently held Dhuri bypoll.
